Available Options for Nowlin Pistols

Nowlin wants to build your 1911 for you with the options you want. These options will vary somewhat from pistol to pistol. You will save money and get what you want up front! If you would like to add any of these options to your Nowlin pistol order, please Contact Us.

• SIGHTS:
  We will install almost any sight of your choosing. Our Nowlin fixed sights come in both an ultra-durable plain black (3 dot Trijicon� lamps available) as well as the Lowrider� (bar-dot night lamps available). Our ultra-durable all steel adjustable (windage and elevation) rear sight has carry rounded corners and a serrated back face (available with Trijicon� lamps). We carry others including: Bo-Mar, LPA, Wilson, Aristocrat, MMC, Novak, and XL. Our fully machined Nowlin front sight is both dovetailed and vertically pinned in place; they do not go flying away. Plain black semi-ramp and Trijicon� lamped front sights available.

• AMBIDEXTEROUS THUMB SAFETY:
  Our standard Nowlin Ambi ($20) is carry rounded. The right side paddle is smaller and better suited for primary right-handers. We will install King�s and Wilson ambi�s for dedicated left hand users.

• FRONT GRIP CHECKERING:
  Our 30 lines per inch (LPI) front grip checkering ($99) will take close magnifier inspection; it is that good. We run these on a special CNC machine. The diamonds are of even depth and are centered on the frame. On special request, we will do 20 LPI front grip checkering (by hand) as well as checkering on other surfaces.

• GRIPS:
  The standard grip on Nowlin 1911�s (except Mickey Fowler) is an attractive and functional exotic fruitwood checkered single diamond. It is laser engraved with the Nowlin logo. Special thin grips from Chip McCormick are available as required. For the STI 2011, you can have any of their colored frames for a slight additional charge.

• MAGAZINE WELLS:
  Our standard magazine well is the S&A with a light fit. The cost to upgrade to this is small ($75) and benefits especially those with larger hands. On the Match Master guns, we do a seamless blend (very time consuming.) It gives an even wider opening with a perfect blend into the frame. Cost for this upgrade is $215 (includes S&A).

• MAINSPRING HOUSING:
  Our standard for non-magwell pistols is an engineering grade, checkered synthetic. It saves weight and is very durable. Upgrades to aluminum or steel housings in checkered or serrated are available.

• FINISHES:
  Nowlin Master Blue is standard for most pistols. The slide flats are highly polished with slide rounds matted. The frame is matted. The appearance is excellent and functional. We offer two other finishes for your selection. Our Hard Chrome ($170) is exquisite; the gun is prepped as for bluing, but we go much further in the slide flat finishing process. The finish is flawless with no rounded edges or dished pin holes. As a benefit, hard chrome guns stay tight longer and are easier to clean. Nowlin Tuff� ($170) is a matte black Mil Spec finish with extreme corrosion protection. It will withstand 5,000 hours of salt mist exposure. Extraordinary resistance to acids. On pistols with this finish, we carry-round the slide (front, rear, and ejection port) as well as the slide stop. This finish eventually will surface wear so we phosphatise underneath to prevent rust. On all our finishes, we take extra caution to keep the Nowlin slide to frame tight by careful hand processing.

• MAGAZINES:
  You may purchase extra fitted magazines with your Nowlin. Our 1911 magazines are stainless steel with a screwed-on black bumper pad. We engineer these to be extremely dependable. When ordered with a gun, we will tune and test fire each with your gun. This is especially a good idea for 9mm pistols. For 2011 STI pistols, we will tune these magazines also.

• BARRELS:
  We gunsmith fit only Nowlin match barrels to all our pistols. No cheaper, low-line barrel is ever used. A Nowlin bull barrel is available in most guns as a $20 upgrade.

• OTHER UPGRADES:
  We will build it the way you want it. If you do not want forward cocking serrations, they can be deleted. If you want a short trigger, we will install. If you want a thinner than usual front sight, we will thin it. In short, tell us what you want.
